College & Beyond
Through programs like Studio DSO and DSO Discover the Dallas Symphony Orchestra shares its artistic and educational resources with Dallas area schools and universities by bringing the world's finest professional musicians into direct contact with students of all ages.
Richland college Enrichment series
Two engaging presenters from the DSO will be offering classes as a part of Richland College's Enrichment Series this Spring. On Wednesday, March 24, DSO Education Director Jamie Allen will present "What's New at the Symphony?" a look at what Mestro van Zweden and the musicians in the orchestra are doing that has quickly made the DSO one of the top orchestras in the United States, and what that means for Dallas.
On Wednesday, April 7, frequent DSO Performance Prelude presenter Kevin Salfen will be leading an examination of twentieth century composers and the concept of "useful music." This fascinating class will explore how the creative musical mind addresses the elusive, but often essential, issues of style and popularity.
To register for these and other classes of interest to those seeking an enriching educational experience, call the Richland College Continuing Education Department: 972-238-6147.

Performance Preludes
Before every Classical concert, the DSO offers free Performance Preludes to ticketed guests - informal presentations designed to enhance your concert experience. Laugh and learn with the most knowledgeable music experts in the North Texas area (as well as a few surprise visitors) as they share the stories behind the music. These lively and educational presentations begin one hour before every Dallas Symphony Classical Series performance in Horchow Hall, located behind the box office on the lower level of the Meyerson Symphony Center. Performance Preludes are sponsored by the Dallas Symphony Orchestra Guild.
