Music DirectorNow in his second season as music director, Jaap van Zweden has seemingly transformed the sound of the Dallas Symphony Orchestra overnight. Drawing rave reviews from critics the world over, van Zweden will lead the DSO in twelve Texas Instruments Classical Season performances during the 2009-2010 season; featuring major symphonic works, pieces by German, Russian and Romantic-Era composers, as well as works for chorus and several premieres.
Jaap van Zweden
Born in Amsterdam in December of 1960, Jaap van Zweden began his musical career studying the violin. He entered The Julliard School at age 16 and, at age 19, was invited to join the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra as concertmaster.
